I grew up on this beach long before there were menus, cocktails, or people arguing about which table has the best sunset view. Back then it was just sand, waves, and the occasional suspicious coconut.
Over the years I became something of a local gentleman of Bang Por. I watched fishermen come and go, tourists discover the sunsets, and restaurants slowly appear along the shore.
One day these humans decided to open a restaurant and, for reasons I still don’t fully understand, they named it after me.
I didn’t ask for this responsibility… but I accepted it with dignity.
These days I don’t live at the restaurant anymore. A gentleman must maintain a certain independence. However, I do visit from time to time to make sure everything is in order.
Mostly the seafood.
If the food is good, the drinks are cold, and the sunset is behaving properly, I quietly approve and continue my patrol along the beach.
So when you visit Hector’s Restaurant & Bar, remember you’re not just visiting a restaurant.
You’re visiting my beach.
Be kind to the staff. Enjoy the sunset. And if you happen to see me walking by… please try to act normal.
